Christmas Corner week six

Happy Snow Day!

Well, it's a snow day here, with lots of the white stuff coming down hard and fast.  Personally, I love it!

Today I have two Christmas Corner project to share.  First up is a quick card:

I used another of the sheet of journaling style elements from a paper pack I picked up on sale in December.  I layered it with touch of red, and added a wider border of black with white dots, from my stash.  I think I may add a chalkboard effect snowflake or two, or some white lettering on those lines.

Here is the inside:

My next project is one that I am quite excited to share with you.

I made this altered tag to enter in the My Artistic Adventures Challenge #2, The First Day of Christmas Challenge.

The first gifts I give at Christmas are bags of little holiday goodies that I put together for my Mom and Dad and in-laws.  We always travel "home" for Thanksgiving, and I love starting my gift-giving with these gift bags.  I always include something handmade for the moms, and this year, these tags will fit that bill.

I started with a wooden tag shaped ornament, and used Yes Paste to adhere a background of Heather Hudson's lovely Shabby Chic Vintage Birds and Music Tags collage sheet.  I hit the edges with some  Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.  I used my Silver Bullet Pro Digital Die Cutter to cut flower petals, leaves and a flourish.  I colored the petals with more Distress Ink, this time in Worn Lipstick, and shaped and assembled them into a flower.  I added glitter to the tips of the flourish, which was first inked with Gathered Twigs Distress, and embossed and inked the leaf.

Here is a closer look at the flower, with its alcohol inked pearl center.

I made this circle charm by punching a circle from Heather's Victorian Santa and Christmas Tree Collage Sheet., coating it with a layer of glossy accents, and adding a jump ring.  The coordinating bead charm was a simple make with just some pearl beads and a head pin. The charms are attached to the Distressed seam binding bow with a vintage garment pin.

I can't wait to get started on Heather's next challenge, which has an anything goes theme.  Come on and join in!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Stay safe and warm if this storm is in your area.

Elizabeth

  2. great card! I love the tag you made and how well the distress inks work with Heather's designs. The charm is an added bonus. We, too, have a family get-together at Thanksgiving--you've given me the idea to start gift giving early. Thanks for joining in My Artistic Adventures challenge! Helene, MAA dt
