12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style - Week 8
Hello Everyone!
Wow! I can't believe that Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Christmas is rushing towards us like the Polar Express. I hope you all are enjoying the season!
I thought I was ahead of the game for a couple of days, but now I'm back to catching up on the Funkie Junkie 12- Tags of Christmas. Today I am posting week 8. I'm planning time to finish weeks 9-11 later this week.
Here is Linda's amazing inspiration piece:
You can read all about the details here. I was immediately drawn to the color scheme, the stocking element, and the brown polka dots. Could that stocking be any cuter? Nope, don't think so!!
The space in my printer's tray that I wanted to fill is a tiny 1 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches. Not much room to play, that's for sure. Here is how I interpreted the week 8 challenge:
I found some brown polka dotted paper in my scrap drawer, and decided to use it as the background. At this scale, it would have been much too big for the stocking. I cut the stocking with my Silver Bullet Pro digital cutter. I spritzed it with water, crumpled it, carefully un-crumpled it, dried it with my heat gun, and inked it with Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain Distress Inks. (I also used Walnut Stain Distress Ink on the edges of the background.) I love how it is possible to make cardstock look like vintage fabric. So much fun! I love the red rick-rack that Linda used on her tag. The vintage piece that I found in my great-grandmother's sewing basket is just the perfect size!
To embellish my stocking, I added some teeny-tiny holly leaves and berries that were left over from another project. I gave the leaves some sparkle with Rock Candy Distress Stickles, and colored the berries with markers.
Here is a look at how my printer's tray is coming along so far:
I hope that you are planning to join in on the fun. The Funkie Junkie Boutique is sponsoring the challenge, with terrific prizes to be won by 3 lucky participants, and a 10% discount during January for each participant who completes all 12 challenges. You can check out the details and simple challenge requirements here. While you are checking things out on the Funkie Junkie blog, make sure to take a peek at what the other participants are making. I continue to be fascinated with the amazing creativity on display.
If you haven't had a chance to order from the Funkie Junkie Boutique, I highly recommend you check it out. The prices are great, and the customer service is excellent. I place an order on Friday, and have received it already. It was very carefully packaged, and even included a thank you gift! What fun I had opening it! I can't wait to put my new "goodies" to good use.
I hope the magic of the season finds you all today!

So glad to have you back playing with me again, Elizabeth! I've missed you and have been wondering how the Printer's Tray was coming along. Super take on my stocking tag. Love your tiny stocking with the holly leaves. It works great with the polka dotted paper! And it all fits so perfectly in that compartment :)
