The one with the inspiration board....

Hello Everyone!

Hope you are having a good time today!  Recently, I worked on a Pinterest inspired project that I thought would be fabulous for my studio.

I removed the artwork  ( embroidery on a quilt square, which will be saved for another project) from this nice square thrift store frame.  I spray painted it with my favorite flat black spray paint, and added eye hooks from the hardware store at one inch intervals all around the inside perimeter.  I wove some nice linen warp thread from my weaving stash using the eye hooks.  Then all I had to do was attach some recently acquired attic treasures to finish it up.  I love all of the ways to attach items without damaging them.  Things can be tucked or woven into the warp and weft threads, or hung with tiny Tim Holtz paperclips or safety pins.  No adhesives were used, and things are staying in place nicely.

I plan to use this as a revolving display of seasonal items and crafty inspiration.  I may change it quickly as I work on more "Creepy Vintage" Halloween pieces.  I'll post photos as the display changes.

Hope you all have a good week.  I'll pop back to post another up-cycled frame project sometime later this week.  I have to borrow DH's power sander for the next one!

Elizabeth

PS.  Here is the link to the inspiration for my project: S.W.A.T.  Scroll way down the page to find the project instructions.  There are lots of pretty things to look at along the way.

  1. This is lovely Elizabeth, I like the way you've incorporated this collection of special treasures & in such a way that you can easily & safely change it up.
