Crazy for Colour!

Hi Everyone!

Hope you all are having a terrific week!   I am here with an entry in the Anything But Cute challenge for March.  DT member Branka is this month's hostess, and her challenge is:

To celebrate the springtime, we would like you to create a mixed media project using vibrant colours! It can be a tag, a card, an art journal page or anything else! Just be sure it's vibrant! It's time to go 'crazy' with colours!

I was quite excited by this challenge!  It was just the push I needed to start a big floral project.  After digging through my baskets of vintage "alterables", and rediscovering a set of rusty tin pot lids, I knew just what to make!

I made a variety of roses from copy paper, cut with my Silver Bullet Cutter and colored with Distress Stains.  Some Distress stained cheesecloth, Archival inked text and floral beads finish off my project.

In addition to the text stamped directly on the lid, I stamped the leaves with a different text stamp and Distress Ink.

I always edge my flowers with Distress Ink to age them.  For these, I chose Tea Dye DI, so as not to detract too much from the bright colors.

Thanks for stopping by today to see my "Crazy for Colour" project.  I hope you are starting to see signs of spring where ever you are!

Elizabeth

I think I have found the perfect "photo booth"  Its a shelf on my tiny front porch.  As long as I can get out there at noontime on sunny days, I won't need to Photoshop at all!

  3. Those are beautiful flowers. I love to read about artists making the flowers themselves. Crazy for color would be a really challenge for me. I tend to go with my safe kind of pastels.

  4. I will never look at a tin lid the same! This is so creative and outside the box. Fantabulous flowers you have made and so much detail in the flowers! Awesome sauce crazy colours you have chosen for the floral arrangement. I can only imagine how long it took to create so many wonderful leaves and flowers. The stamping on the lid is beautiful! Wowzers!
