Trying out a new (to me) technique...

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are well and happy!  The week six 12 Tags of Christmas - Funkie Junkie Style challenge is a fun one.  Click the link for all of the details on how you can join in. It's definitely not too late to start.   The challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique the place to find a wide variety of products at terrific prices.

Linda's inspiration tag has beautiful traditional elements on a really distressed, vintage style mixed media background.

I had fun thinking of ways to use what I have on hand to create this look in miniature:

To create my plaid Holly leaves, I inked a Tim Holtz stamp with Library Green Archival, then stamped it on a plaid background stamp to add pattern.  I stamped some of the ink off onto a piece of scrap paper, then stamped it on cardstock.  I don't even know what this technique is called, but I love the effect.  I fussy cut the holly, Distress Inked the edges, added some flat back pearls, and mounted it on a layered up background piece.  When I saw Linda's tag, I remembered the crimping tool I've had stashed away forever, and dug it out to corrugated my kraft based background.  An inked chit chat sticker completes my Week six make.

Here is one of my printer's trays.  I'm getting really excited about how the spaces are filling up!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a Merry Monday!

Elizabeth

  1. Oh, My Gosh, Elizabeth! This is beautiful and works great in your printer's tray! I love the idea of using the tray to display your artwork! I think I did something similar last year to do all of Tim's 12 tags for the year at one time. Whew! I think it must be more fun to fill it one tag at a time. Looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do on your posts! This is amazing! Hugs!

  2. And what a cool technique! Love the pattern you achieved. My mom has had one of those crimpers for umpteen years and somehow it always makes me feel like it is the "token" of our stamping passion. Ha! Love that you crimped this cool background. Cool piece!
