One final fall post....

... before Christmas totally takes over.

I have a few fall projects to share today.  My family recently hosted a party at our home, and getting the house looking fabulous was a large part of my preparation, and the reason I haven't been around much for the last few weeks.  Besides cleaning the entire house, including my craft room, from top to bottom, I did some seasonal decorating.

I created this project to fill a spot in my newly installed wall of vintage shelving.  This time, rather than boxes, I had DH mount the trays from an antique tool chest that my daughter bought recently. 

I started with a 7 Gypsies Journal cover that I've had in my stash for a while.  I altered it by painting it with gesso. Some of the original rust color shows, but it is toned way down, so that my additions can stand out.   Next, I applied texture paste through a wood grain stencil, and after drying, colored it with Distress Inks.  I added a frame of copper colored foil by adhering Score Tape to the base, peeling off the backing, and pressing the foil over it.  For my focal feature, I cut several fall shapes with my Silver Bullet Pro cutter, and colored them all with Distress Inks.  I'm pretty sure that coloring white cardstock die cuts with Distress Inks is my very favorite Distress technique.  With the range of colors available, the sky's the limit for realistic, rustic colors that are perfect for fall projects.

I added some dimension to the pumpkin with my stylus tools, and popped it up with foam tape. Finally, I dressed up my pumpkin by adding some charms that I altered with Distress Paints.  Love this stuff for adding color to metal pieces.  I threaded the charms on a bit of copper wire, and hung it from the stem like a necklace.    

The bead is made from rolled paper, and coated with UTEE for shine.

And now for the rest of my projects: 

 Another little altered piece.  It started as a plain piece of ply-wood. 

 I've been wanting to make a burlap wreath for some time.  It was quite simple really.  I gathered 6 inch wide burlap ribbon onto a length of wire, and added a big bow. 

 This collection is on one side of my large sideboard. 

And this is on the other.  Friends brought the beautiful flowers to the party.

 On my mantel, I have two collections of hand spun yarn pumpkins and apples.  I had enough samples from all of my past spinning to make about 30 of these!

 I love this banner.  I kept it simple, as there is so much color going on in my living room

These altered peat pots were made with stencils and white spray paint, and bits of lace from my stash.

Here it is all together (including the wreath reflected in the mirror!).  I'm kind of sad that it will be coming down soon to make way for Christmas decorations.
