Happy New Year! Starting things off with a free file.

Happy Day, Everyone!

I hope that you are celebrating this new year in a way that pleases you.  I will be challenging myself creatively during this upcoming year, and plan to be a very active here on my blog.

This project that I made recently that showcases one of my goals for the year, which is to use up my stash of papers and scraps:

I designed this lantern as a gift for a friend, and used up some real oldies.  The metallic paper is from one of the first stacks that I purchased.  It has been languishing at the bottom of the pile, but was perfect for this project.   The flowers are some that I made at least 18 months ago.  The greenery is left over from a Christmas project, as is the stamped tissue paper in the background.

Here is a close up of the embellishments:

The flowers  and ribbon were colored with Distress Inks.  I added touches of glitter glue, some pearls, and a corsage pin from my stash of charm materials.  I added scraps of vintage book paper in three different ways;  the folded fan at the bottom, fan-folded strips near the top, and the narrow strips tucked in with the ribbon.  These are all items that I pulled out of my "scrap bowl" of leftovers that I can't bear to throw away.

As always, the elements for this project were cut with my Black Cat Cougar from Sherri at That's Scrap, Inc.

If you would like to make this lantern, you can download my files from my SkyDrive:

The construction is really simple, but please let me know if you have problems.

Happy New Year!

  3. Hi Elizabeth. I have just discovered you thanks to Pinterest. I absolutely love this box lantern! What a gorgeous project and the flowers are amazing. Is there any way possible I can buy the lantern file from you? I went to your skydrive account but the lantern is no longer located there.
    Thank you and Merry Christmas
