My "uncrafty" morning off

Hi everyone!

Hope you are all gearing up for a terrific long weekend.  This morning, it occurred to me that today would be my last Friday alone before the kids' summer vacation starts in a couple of weeks.  So I decided to do something special.
There is a hiking trail a couple of miles from my house that I have loved for years.  In fact, I would put it at the top of my list of favorite places.  It is simply beautiful.  It's been a while since I have hiked there, and today seemed like the perfect day.   I took my camera along and got some pretty good shots.  Here is my favorite:

Most often, I hike with some combination of DH and DDs.  I really enjoy their company, and often chat the whole time.  When I go by myself, I am so much more aware of the sounds of the forest.  Today, there was water dripping off the leaves, and hundreds of birds singing.  I even enjoyed the sound of my sneakers squishing in the mud.  Best of all was the "song" of a Pileated Woodpecker!  These are the big red headed woodpeckers that sound like monkeys.  It was amazing!

I hope your weedend starts as good as mine!
